Answer
How to Setup my Cerritos College Library Loaner Laptop
After you have received your loaner laptop from the Cerritos College library, you are welcome to set up the laptop as you see fit. Below are just the basics steps on how to set up your laptop.
Below are two similar, but different ways to setup your Library Loaner Laptop:
Local Account: Limited Setup
If you do not wish to make a personal Microsoft account
With this setup process, you will be creating a local user account that is only stored on the laptop itself. This account is NOT tied to your Cerritos College credentials.

Note: Library staff do not have admin rights to help with a password reset or data recovery on the loaner laptops.
Microsoft Account:
More secure with a little more setup
With this set up process you will either be creating or use an existing Microsoft Account to setup your laptop. This account is NOT tied to your Cerritos College credentials, but will be tied to your own personal Microsoft account.

Note: This process does require an internet connection.
Important information - Microsoft Account: Bitlocker
BitLocker is a Windows security feature that provides encryption for entire volumes, addressing the threats of data theft or exposure from lost, stolen, or inappropriately decommissioned devices.
Note: Upon creating or using an existing Microsoft account, Bitlocker will be turned on by default on your Library Loaner Laptop.
Note: The laptop will enter Bitlocker Recovery mode if multiple unsuccessful password attempts has happened.
Unlocking Bitlocker
In the case you ever see the Bitlocker Recovery mode screen, you will need to head to the URL below on a SEPARATE device. Enter in your Microsoft account credentials. Once logged in, you will see the Bitlocker 48 digit code. You will enter that code on your Bitlocker locked laptop.

Note: Library staff DO NOT have admin access to retrieve your Bitlocker key.
