Below are the steps to set up your Library Loaner Laptop with a Microsoft account:

Note: You will need an internet connection for this setup.

1. Boot up your laptop by pressing the dedicated power button on the laptop. The initial setup page will ask for what country you are in. You will choose UNITED STATES.
2. Next it will ask for keyboard layout. You will chose US.
3. Next it will ask to add a second keyboard layout. Click SKIP. 
4. You should now be at the wifi connect page.
5. You now will need to connect to the wifi connection where you are currently setting this laptop up. You can also come to campus and connect to the CERRITOS WPA wifi.
   
   Note: If on campus, you  MUST use CERRITOS WPA wifi. This initial setup process will NOT work with Cerritos Event wifi. If you are having trouble connecting to the Cerritos WPA wifi, please come to the computer lab in the library.
    
6. After you have connected to a wifi connection click NEXT.
7. Accept Windows 10 license agreement.
8. You will be asked for personal or workplace accounts. Choose PERSONAL.
9. You will be taken to a page to sign in or create a Microsoft Account.
   1. If you have an existing Microsoft account, enter your credentials.
   2. If you do not have an existing account, please choose create an account.
10. After you have either created or logged into your Microsoft account, you will then be asked to create a PIN number for access to the laptop. Please choose a PIN that you can remember.
    
    Note: Library staff do not have access to reset your PIN number for the Library Loaner Laptop.
     
11. Click NOT NOW for Edge to access recent browsing data
12. Read the privacy settings and decide which ones you wish to allow and hit ACCEPT.
13. Click SKIP to customize your experience.
14. Click  NO THANKS for android phone connection.
15. Click Decline Microsoft 365. You will be activating Office365 later.
16. Click DECLINE CLOUD STORAGE with Microsoft 365. Again this service will be activated later. 
17. Click NO THANKS for game pass.
18. Click NOT NOW for Cortana.
19. If you wish to unlock windows 11, you may do so. This is a personal preference. 
20. It will take a few minutes for the laptop to finish setting up. Once the laptop is done setting up, you should be taken to the desktop.
21. You are now finished with the initial setup for your library loaner laptop. Please follow the below link on how to activate Office 365

Note: Library staff DO NOT  have access to reset your password or pin number. If this information is forgotten and recovery is not an option, the only thing staff can do is try to wipe the device (you will lose all your data stored on the device) and start from scratch.
