Does the Library offer any courses?

The Library offers the following courses:

  • Library 50 - Introduction to the College Library  - a .5 unit course that familiarizes students with basic but valuable library resources that promote academic success.  LIBR 50 encourages students to explore the library and seek help from librarians.
  • Library 100 - Introduction to Library Research  - a one-unit course that will guide you through the process of becoming information competent. You will learn how information is organized, how to search for and retrieve information, and how to evaluate information. You will learn to use traditional reference sources as well as online tools.
  • Library 101 - Advanced Library Research  - a one-unit course that introduces students to advanced research materials, strategies, and methods. This includes narrowing a topic, keyword selection, advanced Boolean operators, and database truncation techniques in a wide variety of sources. This course is of special value to those students intending to transfer to four-year institutions.
